Photographers, artists, writers, and visual storytellers from Latvia have the opportunity to participate in the international Der Greif open call contest.
The guest editor of this issue is the world-renowned artist and visual activist Zanele Muholi, and the theme of the contest is:
“I Am Because of You, Mother Earth”
The theme invites us to think of the environment not only as the landscape around us, but as part of our bodies, identities, relationships, history, and community. Submissions may include photographs, visual projects, texts, poetry, and essays.
Why participate?
• The opportunity to be published in Der Greif Issue 19
• Your work will be reviewed by Zanele Muholi and the Der Greif team
• The opportunity to take part in activities during Paris Photo 2026
• The opportunity to be featured in an Artist Feature on dergreif.org
• Two specially selected artists will each receive a €1,000 grant
Participation is open to artists from around the world—including those from Latvia.
Deadline: July 4, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. CET
Participation: by voluntary donation; not mandatory
